NYC aims to require composting food scraps

Compulsory composting

Legions of New York City apartment dwellers will soon be asked – and may eventually be forced – to start collecting food scraps for composting.

The city launched a test program recently in 3,500 Staten Island homes and some Manhattan apartment buildings. Officials say they plan to expand it to 100,000 houses and high-rise apartments in all five boroughs this fall.

It’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s latest bid to make the Big Apple greener.

The initiative would be voluntary for now. Officials aim to make it mandatory citywide in a few years, though that would depend on Bloomberg’s successor.

San Francisco and Seattle already require compost collection for at least some residents.

But ushering composting into America’s biggest city would amplify a cause that environmentalists view as the next wave in recycling.

The Associated Press

Bloomberg is an idiot. daughter lives in NYC and many of the Liberals there think he is an egomaniac that believes he should tell folks how to live their lives. Holder is suing him over stop and frisk, says it is racial profiling. That program has cut down crime immensely in those neighborhoods and most folks want that program to stay as it has also cut down on bystanders getting killed. Bloomberg has said that the NYPD is his Army and Washington cannot tell him what to do.

Bloomberg is a very dangerous liberal
