The Concord High wrestling team traveled to Manchester Memorial on Wednesday night and put on a dominating display against the Crusaders, winning the dual meet, 75-6. Still, the Crimson Tide has lofty expectations for itself and remains hungry and focused, even after a 69-point win.

“Concord wrestled tough,” Tide assistant coach Dan Breen said. “We still have a lot of work to do to be where we want to be.”

The highlight of the night came at 145 pounds where the Tide’s Cortland Miller toughed out an 8-7 decision.

Eight of Concord’s wins came by pin – Evan Berube (138 pounds), Isaac Habimana (152), Tyler Simpson (160), Isaac Gladey (170), Alex Buteau (220), Sam Wagner (113), Jack Sargent (120) and Cam Cate (126). The Tide also got four wins by forfeit – Ghana Darjee (106), Ethan Comeau (126), Hugh Gunnison (182), Tristan Sharich (195).

Next up for Concord is a trip to the Keene Tournament on Saturday. Bow, John Stark and Kearsarge will also be at the event.

Highlights/key moments: On Wednesday, the Panthers struggled to find the basket and lugged a 23-10 deficit into halftime. The offense flowed better in the second half and Pittsfield was within seven points with four minutes to go, but the undefeated Knights pulled away at the end to claim the win.

Coach’s quote: “We did a good job after half with being more aggressive on the offensive end, but it was too little, too late.” – Pittsfield’s Heidi Hall
