Hill School DistrictVoters to deal with creating SAU

Hot topic: After Franklin withdrew from SAU 18 this past winter, the Hill School District has been faced with setting up its own school administrative unit for the 61 elementary students still at Jennie D. Blake School. Hill school board Chairwoman Shelly Henry said voters may have something to say about this year’s operating budget, which is down.

“We have now hired a part-time superintendent as well as a part-time finance person,” Henry said. “We will kind of being working that out as we go. I think we’re going to be good.”

Budget: The proposed operating budget is $2.1 million, down from $2.11 million from last year.

Noteworthy articles: Just two other articles are on the school meeting’s warrant: one appropriating $10,000 from the unreserved fund balance for the special education fund, and one appropriating $3,500 from the unreserved fund balance for the school building and maintenance fund.

When and where: The school district meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Amsden Auditorium.
