Officials: Windham restaurant to be inspected after sixth fire call

New Hampshire fire officials say a Windham restaurant damaged by a weekend fire will need a state electrical inspection after six fire calls this year.

Windham fire Chief Thomas McPherson said his department had responded to the Common Man Restaurant on fire calls five times this year before the Saturday fire that prompted evacuation of staff and patrons.

The Eagle-Tribune reported that it took firefighters an hour to bring the fire between the ceiling and roof of the restaurant under control. No one was injured. McPherson said the restaurant is closed indefinitely.

Most of the prior calls involved electrical malfunctions.

McPherson estimates the damage from Saturday’s fire at the popular eatery to be about $250,000.
