Gilford school budget includes telephones, bleachers
The Gilford School District’s proposed operating budget is $24.6 million, about a 2 percent increase over the current year.
The $512,500 increase is driven mostly by maintenance projects, said Superintendent Kent Hemingway. New auditorium seats are included for $105,000, and a new phone system will cost $200,000.
“Our phone system is way outdated and is in a critical place to be overhauled,” Hemingway said.
The new system will be installed in the district’s three schools and its one administrative building.
∎ The operating budget does not include a warrant appropriation of $111,798 for the first year of a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Gilford Education Association. The school board approved the contract unanimously, but the budget committee approved it on a split vote.
∎ Voting: Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gilford Youth Center on Potter Hill Road.
