Inaugural poet Richard Blanco to read at library
Richard Blanco, poet at the second inauguration of President Obama, will hold a workshop and public reading April 16 at the Concord Public Library.
Blanco will host the workshop for high school students from 3 to 4:30 p.m. He will read and sign his books at a public event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both events are free. High school students are encouraged, but not required, to register for the workshop at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Blanco was the fifth inaugural poet of the United States, following in the footsteps of Robert Frost and Maya Angelou. He performed “One Today,” written for the occasion, and became the youngest poet, and first Latino, immigrant and openly gay writer to hold the honor.
