The Insiders: Fill your Sunday with books, music and movies – and feathers and trumpets

What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of trumpets? Noodle on that for awhile, if you must, but do so while preparing to head to the Concord Community Music School this afternoon for an appearance by author Joyce Ray and illustrator Lisa Greenleaf, who joined forces to create the book Feathers & Trumpets: A Story of Hildegard of Bingen.

The pair will appear at 2 p.m., and though we can’t play the trumpet – or the feather, for that matter – we presume musical expertise is not a prerequisite. Wanting to meet some cool people is, though.

Today is also the third Sunday of the Merrimack Music series at the Audi, featuring The Mica-Sev Project at 3 p.m. and Ian Ethan at 4 p.m.

It’s a collaboration between New England musicians Yamica ‘Mica’ Peterson on vocals and keyboard and Don ‘Sev’ Severance on vocals, guitar, live loops and original beats. You had us at Froot Loops. Wait, it didn’t say Froot Loops?

Ethan plays the double-neck guitar, for which the double turtleneck has yet to be invented, entering what the press materials call “truly uncharted territory” with the 18-string instrument in 2005.
