The Insiders: Get weller at today’s wellness fair
We hope this column finds you well. But we think you could always be weller, that everyone could experience more wellosity. We’d call it a greater sense of wellness, but then we’d just be making words up. Wellness? Who ever heard of such a thing?!
Oh, based on a quick and unscientific office poll, apparently everybody has. Turns out it’s not a made up word. But it is the key word in today’s 2014 Wellness Fair, which is being held by the city of Concord’s Wellness Team at the Holiday Inn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s a free event, because really, charging people money decreases the wellness quotient. It also features health awareness demonstrations, but reportedly doesn’t include the demonstration we recommended called Watch How Jumping From This Balcony Negatively Impacts Our Wellness.
There will also be lifestyle information, health screenings and other resources, as well as raffles and games. In all, more than 45 vendors from the Concord community will be taking part. For more information, contact the city of Concord Human Resources Department at 225-8535.
Think you have what it takes to throw one heck of a birthday party? We bet you do. But we also bet you’ve never organized a shindig for someone’s 250th (the odds are in our favor on that one). Well it’s time to put those party execution skills to the test to help Concord 250, a nonprofit organization formed to plan and promote the 250th anniversary of the city of Concord in 2015. The third in a series of public forums will be held this evening at 6 at City Council Chambers and is open the public, with the goal of recruiting community members to take part. With ideas gathered at previous forums, tonight’s get-together will be when Concord 250 board members share official details of the event, like the impending kick off in June 2014, and seek help in making them a reality. Also, time capsule! The Concord Historical Society will be updating the extraction, opening and reburying of the time capsule currently buried underneath City Plaza.
Oh, and how could we forget the Russian piano virtuoso? That’s right, Russian piano virtuoso Pavel Nersessian will be playing the Audi tonight at 7:30 . How often can you say you saw a Russian piano virtuoso? (We just said it three times in one paragraph, for the record). For more information, visit concordcommunityconcerts.org.
