Colby-Sawyer College shakes up curriculum

New London’s Colby-Sawyer College is changing its curriculum structure to increase both class time and out-of-class work.

Under changes approved by the school’s board of trustees, Colby-Sawyer will switch from a mostly three-credit per course model to a predominantly four-credit per course model starting next fall.

That means students will take four courses instead of five, and faculty will teach three courses instead of four per semester.

Officials said the changes will allow students and faculty to focus more on each subject and will make it easier and more cost-effective for students to transfer to the school.
