Hartnett leaving Coe-Brown

According to nhnotebook.com, Dave Hartnett has resigned as the Coe-Brown girls’ basketball coach. Hartnett led the Bears to a 16-6 record this season and a spot in the Division II championship, where they lost to Merrimack Valley, 55-48. In his three years at Coe-Brown, Hartnett compiled a 44-18 record and three playoff appearances.

Hartnett lives and works in Hampton and his decision to leave Coe-Brown was, “strictly about logistics,” Jeremy Leveille wrote on nhnotebook.com.

“It was a 40-50 minute ride depending on traffic. That commute starts to wear on you,” Hartnett told the website.

“The (Coe-Brown) kids, the parents, they have been great. With Headmaster Dave Smith and Athletic Director Matt Skidds they have a great administration. There’s a great facility and they have the best pep band in the state.”

Hartnett’s successor will inherit a talented roster. The Bears entire starting lineup will return next year, including Jenny Schlim, a First Team D-II selection, and Abigail Ahern, who was named to the D-II Second Team.
