Merrimack man pleads guilty to trying to solicit Oregon 13-year-old
A Merrimack man has pleaded guilty in federal court to trying to solicit a 13-year-old girl to produce pornographic images of herself.
U.S. Attorney John Kacavas said the investigation regarding 41-year-old Keith Burns started in March 2013. Investigators in Jackson County, Ore., received reports of a man using Facebook to solicit the teen.
The girl’s parents brought the matter to the attention of local authorities, who contacted the FBI. An investigation led to Burns’s arrest.
Burns pleaded guilty this week to one count of attempted receipt of child pornography. He was previously convicted of sexually assaulting a minor and is required by New Hampshire law to register with the state’s sex offender registry list. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31.
