Catholic churches plan downtown procession in Concord today

The Roman Catholic churches in the Concord area will host a procession today beginning at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church at 72 S. Main St.

The procession, which will celebrate May as the month of Mary, will stop at the State House and city hall before ending at Sacred Heart Church, located at 52 Pleasant St. across from the Federal Building.

“At each location, there will be a prayer offered for the consecration of our city and towns, state and nation to Jesus through Mary,” a press release stated. “The procession will end with the crowning of Mary at Sacred Heart Church.”

Refreshments will be served in the hall of Sacred Heart Church after the procession, and all are welcome to attend.
