N.H. Senate approves 25-foot abortion buffer zone

Legislation allowing New Hampshire’s reproductive health facilities where abortions are offered to set buffer zones of up to 25 feet around their entrances is on its way to the governor.

The Senate voted 13-10 yesterday to accept changes the House made to its bill and send the bill to Gov. Maggie Hassan, who has not said whether she would sign the bill.

The Senate bill was filed in response to protests and picket activity at Planned Parenthood’s health center in Manchester. Bill supporters said more than 60 patient complaints have been logged since the beginning of 2013.

Supporters argue the buffer zone will ensure the privacy and dignity of people using the clinics, but opponents say the bill infringes on the free speech rights of abortion opponents.

"Supporters argue the buffer zone will ensure the privacy and dignity of people using the clinics, but opponents say the bill infringes on the free speech rights of abortion opponents". Women have the right to have an abortion but I wonder if they really can feel "dignity" in having one. I think that they would feel "shame" before "dignity". Oh I forget progressives define dignity differently.

My gratitude to all those who worked to make this happen. It is a reasonable, common sense safety measure, protective of everyone.

Good, so now we will be able to have buffer zones around gun shops as well...go ahead Maggie, make my day

If you really feel buffer zones are needed around gun shops, ask your state rep or senator to file a bill on it.

A buffer zone would certainly make it easier for all the unarmed souls fearing the gauntlet of anti-gun protesters outside Riley's. But then, once inside--oh sweet release! An armed man is a manly man. And happiness is a worn gun.

If you are going to plaigarize the Beatles, get it right...:Happiness is a warm gun". As far as an armed man being a manly man, come on, not every man is a metrosexual. The world would be a much more dangerous place if that were the case. Have you ever gone into Riley's? It is not really anything special.
