Goffstown school plans to close soon after nearly 100 years

A Catholic school in Goffstown is closing after nearly 100 years, due to declining enrollment and funds.

Villa Augustina School said it will cease operating June 30, unless it gets a large donation for next year.

WMUR reported that the school put out a statement likening the institution to a ship, saying it cannot start a voyage knowing that it doesn’t have sufficient resources to complete the trip.

The school has faced closure before; this is the first time it has set a date.
