Police identify driver in fatal accident on I-89 in Lebanon
The police have identified the woman who was killed when she lost control of her car as she swerved to avoid traffic, possibly backed up because of downed wires on the road ahead.
The driver was 24-year-old Heidi Rabidoux of Colchester, Vt. She was alone in the car.
The crash happened about 10 a.m. Wednesday after a truck hauling tree-cutting equipment snagged some wires on Interstate 89 in Lebanon, sparking a brief brush fire and temporarily shutting down the highway. The fire was minimal, but the road was closed because the wires were still hanging low.
Soon after, Rabidoux was northbound when she came upon traffic, braked and lost control, rolling over several times. She was taken to a hospital where she died of her injuries.
The investigation continues.
