The Insiders: Want to hear a vibraphone? Then check out Hermanos tonight
It’s Wednesday and what better way to help you get over the hump than a little music to melt the night away.
While driving down Main Street with the windows wide open and the latest grooving sounds that kids listen to these days blaring from your iPod does technically count, we have a better suggestion – make your way to Hermanos Cocina Mexicana tonight at 6:30 for the sweet jazziness of Paul Heckel.
Heckel, along with John Hunter, will fill the night air with melodies so magical that it should help you forget about the heat and humidity that makes up the rest of it. And Heckel will do it all with gentle taps of his vibraphone. Now we know what you’re going to ask, what’s a vibraphone? Well, we could sit here and try to explain it, but your best bet is to get in your car, put it in drive (unless you need to back up) and set your destination to Hermanos. It’s one of those things you need to hear to truly appreciate.
There’s no coverage charge for the show, which will last two and a half hours, so there’s really no reason not to check it out. That is if you want to miss out on the vibraphone experience. Your choice.
