Dunbarton select architect for town hall design

A Dunbarton town committee is moving forward with the second phase of a three-phase construction project that aims to open up the second floor of the town hall for public use.

The Dunbarton Town Hall & Theatre Restoration Project selected Dennis Mires, P.A. The Architects, a Manchester firm, to provide design plans and establish a guaranteed maximum price for the project. The town’s selectmen approved the choice at a meeting Thursday night.

The committee expects to present a final design and budget figure to residents at town meeting for a vote. If approved, the group hopes to complete construction by mid-September 2015 to coincide with Dunbarton’s 250th anniversary. The plan is to add an addition off the back of town hall to house an elevator, a primary staircase and an ADA-compliant bathroom. The designs also call for the installation of a sprinkler system.

They better take a look at replacing that disaster of a forced hot air heating system they have in the basement. They need 1 system for the library on 1st floor and a separate system for the 2nd floor Hall to be efficient
