National Night Out set for tonight at Rollins Park
Concord will host National Night Out tonight at Rollins Park.
National Night Out is a community crime prevention program held across the United States to promote cooperation between the police and the community. Concord’s event is co-sponsored by the police, fire and parks and recreation departments, along with several local businesses and community organizations.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
At Rollins Park, the festivities will include police demonstrations, wildlife displays and animal encounters, a fire safety booth, “Touch-A-Truck,” an inflatable slide, a rock-climbing wall, games, music and contests. Hot dogs, fried dough, fresh lemonade and other food will be available for $1 each. The event will run from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Havenwood Heritage Heights will provide shuttle buses that will make five-minute loops between the parking lot at 2 Pillsbury Street and the Broadway Street entrance to Rollins Park. Shuttles will run from 4:45 to 8:15 p.m.
Parking will not be available on the residential side of Bow Street, but it will be open on the side of Bow Street that is next to the park. There will be handicapped parking close to the entrance on Broadway.
