The Insiders: Look at some shiny things – and enjoy a lot of family fun
For anything to last 51 years is quite an accomplishment. And for those who aren’t so great at math that’s just over half a century (which is 100 years). Don’t feel bad, we had to look it up too.
Any who, if you feel like being a part of something pretty old – and that dreaded birthday one year after the big one – head on over to Everett Arena today for the Capital Mineral Club’s Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Festival. Like a typical work day, the festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and costs only $5 for adults, with children under 12 getting in free.
With displays of gems, fossils, jewelry, carvings and, or course minerals, there will be plenty of shiny and old things to look at. And the bonus part is that it will all happen again tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
∎ ∎ ∎
The double bonus is that today is also family festivities day at the Concord Moose Lodge (170 N. State St.) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a canned good and enjoy live music, horseshoe and cornhole tournaments, a penny sale and some quality time with Tommy the Moose.
