Concord General Services hosts ‘Shower Better Month,’ promotes contest to win new showerheads

Concord General Services will celebrate “Shower Better Month” in October by encouraging city residents to replace old showerheads with more efficient fixtures – and by giving away new high-performance showerheads to five people among those who are signed up for E-Z Pay utility billing.

The department has encouraged residents to look for products with a WaterSense label, which is earned through an independent certification process to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s criteria for water efficiency, force and flow.

Josh Worthen, the city’s water conservation technician, touted the benefit of a WaterSense label in a department press release.

“WaterSense-labeled products allow you to shower better with the full water coverage expected in a relaxing and refreshing shower, while saving energy, water and potentially even money on your utility bill,” Worthen said.

The department is also offering the chance to win one of five high-performance WaterSense-labeled showerheads by signing up for E-Z Pay with utility billing. E-Z Pay automatically charges a resident’s water bill to his or her bank account. Those enrolled receive a bill summary for easy tracking.

All new and existing Concord residents who are enrolled in E-Z Pay billing by Oct. 20 will be entered for a chance to win. Sign up for E-Z Pay billing at the general services office at 311 N. State St., or find the form online at
