Schilling's 38 Studios items to hit the auction block
Items ranging from computers and monitors to model airplanes made by former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling are set to be auctioned off at the former Providence headquarters of his failed video gaming company.
The auction of 38 Studios’ assets is scheduled for this morning. In addition to electronics, there is also memorabilia, including video game prints signed by Schilling, and a ping pong table.
Rhode Island lured 38 Studios from Massachusetts with a $75 million loan guarantee. The company filed for bankruptcy in June, and the state is likely on the hook for some $100 million.
The auctioneer says his goal is to raise as much as possible. An auction last week at a Maryland gaming studio bought by 38 Studios in 2009 grossed $180,000.
