Letter: Shea-Porter is transparent

First District congressional candidate Carol Shea-Porter is the first candidate I volunteered for because of who she is and not solely because of party label or policy positions.

In 2006, when she was the outsider opposing the party leadership’s primary candidate, I was attracted to her style. With little national party support, she organized an impressive group of grassroots supporters who defied the pundits and sent her to Washington. Ever since then, my respect for her has grown with each encounter in house parties and town halls.

While serving in Congress, Shea-Porter held many town halls often filled with those who adamantly opposed her. Questions were taken from people chosen at random, not pre-selected by her or her staff. Everyone had an even chance of being called.

Any open minded person who attended one of her town halls would respect the forthrightness of the answers she gave. She is a transparent person who is who she seems to be. She cares passionately for the people she serves. She kept her campaign promises, fighting for our veterans and always standing up for the middle class.Because of the respect I have for her, I am, again enthusiastically working to ensure that Carol Shea-Porter returns to Congress.

Shea Porter is a nice lady and she has GUTS, she addressed hostile town meeting crowds in 2009 going for re-election. However, she is also transparent, there is absolutely nothing there. There is no intellect, no moderation, no belief in liberty, freedom and not an original thought. GUTS aside, Shea-Porter is the Poorer choice in this election.
