Letter: Better for women
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney fails to stand up for women’s economic security. He needed binders of resumes to find qualified women for his Massachusetts cabinet because his corporate buyout firm had no female partners. Over Romney’s term as governor, the binders were hardly used and the percentage of women in senior state positions declined on his watch.
Romney still refuses to weigh in on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act because he doesn’t believe in ensuring that women receive equal pay for equal work. The president weighed in on it – he made it the first bill he signed into law.
President Obama knows that when women make less than men for the same work, it is not fair and threatens the economic security of entire families.
Obama has always been a strong advocate for women’s economic and health security, but Romney has not. Vote for Obama. He has shown that he believes in a fair shot for everyone.
