Letter: Forrester has a grasp of the issues
Having attended the Home Builders Sponsored Forum in Meredith last week, I was amazed at how District 2 Senate candidate Robert Lamb and Senate District 7 candidate Andrew Hosmer were uninformed when responding to questions from the audience.
One person asked: How would you address the increasing health insurance premiums for individuals and businesses in New Hampshire? Lamb took the easy way out and advocated more federal regulation. Hosmer didn’t do any better, parroting Lamb’s position. Neither addressed the question directly.
Sen. Jeanie Forrester on the other hand, clearly had a grasp of the question and formed her response with sensible solutions. She outlined a few remedies that would be beneficial to consumers and insurance companies alike.
She said the state must develop more competition, contrasting the current marketplace with six insurance companies to the situation prior to 1994 when there were 26. Second, she said legislation must be crafted to allow insurers to offer plans that cater to individual and businesses needs. Third: Allow consumers and businesses to purchase insurance across state lines, similar to life and automobile insurance.
Forrester clearly understands what the citizens of New Hampshire expect of our senators and is eminently qualified in representing District 2.
