Letter: How much disruption will Main Street project cause?

There are some important numbers missing from the Nov. 12 Monitor article, “Main Street redesign project by the numbers.”

Specifically: How many weeks or months will this construction project disrupt Main Street? What percentage of annual revenue will downtown businesses likely lose during the construction process? Some businesses barely survive now, and we already have too many vacant storefronts in downtown Concord.

How much business revenue is anticipated to be gained or lost by the completion of a Main Street makeover with its related changes to parking, traffic, etc.?

Before we proceed with a massive makeover, we need to know such numbers to be confident that a Main Street redesign will cause more good than harm.

Great letter Rick. But I believe the Main Street project is not about revenue. Just making the downtown pretty. A better project would have been to attract new business that is needed. Fix parking, and ask the residents what stores they would use downtown. Some folks seem to think we are Concord MA.
