Laconia Bike Week association to get boardwalk space

The Laconia Motorcycle Week Association will have a new home during next year’s bike gathering.

The City Council has allotted space on the north end of the boardwalk on Weirs Beach to the group, without charge.

Charlie St. Clair, the group’s executive director, said the rally headquarters serves as “clearinghouse” for visitors to the rally, a retail outlet for the sale of official T-shirts and the staging area for tours.

St. Clair acknowledged that some vendors who have rented the spaces in the past would be displaced. He said he would work with them.

The association has been in several locations in the past, such as Funspot and the Weirs Beach Lobster Pound.
