A Manchester lawyer was taken into custody by FBI agents this morning as she awaited a court hearing on charges of possessing child pornography.

Lisa Biron was scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. probable cause hearing at Manchester’s district court. But before the hearing began, she was taken out of the courtroom and into an adjacent conference room. After several minutes Biron was brought out in handcuffs and quickly taken through the courtroom’s back door.

Outside, 43-year-old Biron ducked her head below the backseat window of a white vehicle as it was driven away from the courthouse.

Kieran Ramsey, a special agent at the FBI’s New Hampshire office, confirmed that Biron was taken into custody by agents from his office and the Manchester Police Department. He called it a “court-authorized action” but directed other questions to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. A request for comment made with that office was not immediately returned this morning.

Biron was arrested last month and charged with possessing five videos and two photos of a teenage girl engaging in sexually explicit conduct with an unknown male. Biron knows the juvenile in the materials and has been ordered to have no contact with her, according to Nick Willard, who heads the Manchester Police Department’s investigative unit.

The police have not charged Biron with making the pornography, which Willard said officials believe was produced outside of the state. When Biron was arraigned last month, a judge ordered her to turn over her passport to the police.

Records show Biron became a lawyer in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts in 2008. She is associated with the Alliance Defending Freedom, a group of lawyers that, according to its website, are committed to keeping “the door open for the spread of the Gospel” by advocating for “religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family.”

In Concord, Biron has worked with the ADF in defending a Pentecostal Church on Mountain Road in its tax fight against the city.

ADF Attorney Caught With Child Porn? Not Really Point to it as yet another example of an anti-gay, “pro-family” Christian covering up their sexual predation? Absolutely. But the “association” with the ADF is pretty weak here. It appears that she was the local attorney who worked with them on a single case. She didn’t work for them, she was involved in a single case. The ADF works just like the ACLU does in this regard, contracting with a local “cooperating attorney” to handle such cases. If an attorney in Keokuk, Iowa who once worked with the ACLU on a single case was caught doing something terrible, we would find it ridiculous if someone said that proved something bad about the ACLU; the same is true here. Hammer her, but the ADF has no real connection to this. http://freethoughtblogs.com/dispatches/2012/11/21/adf-attorney-caught-with-child-porn-not-really/
