Monarchs fall to Portland Pirates in overtime

Portland’s David Rundblad scored 1:37 into overtime to lift the Pirates to a 3-2 victory yesterday over the Manchester Monarchs.
The teams traded goals in both the first and third periods. Jake Muzzin put the Monarchs (9-6-2-1) up 9:54 into the game, but Portland (8-8-1-1) tied it with an Oliver Ekman-Larsson power-play goal. In the third, Tyler Toffoli put Manchester back on top, but Chris Brown pulled the Pirates back even just two minutes later.
Portland outshot Manchester, 50-39, with Monarchs goalie Martin Jones making 47 saves.
