Tree lights abound after two thefts
Donations pour in after news spreads
Ray Fisher, the fire chief in Boscawen, now has more Christmas tree lights than he knows what to do with.
That was evident Monday night during the department’s regular meeting at the fire station, where strings of lights, donated by residents and non-residents alike, sat on a table, stuffed in a box and a bag.
The kindness is in reaction to a pair of thefts within a six-day period, both targeting the bottom row of lights on the town’s Christmas tree, near the fork that separates routes 3 and 4.
And the buzz isn’t confined to the town itself, as a Boston TV station interviewed Fisher on Monday morning in the parking lot, and the Associated Press has spread word across the country, with newspapers in Washington state and California running the story.
