Letter: Shrill and arrogant
Arnie Arnesen’s vituperative homily on Gov. John Lynch’s retirement (“No regrets,” Monitor letter, Dec. 11) is a painful reminder why she was overwhelmingly rejected by the public when she ran for governor.
Lynch, like Gov. Jeanne Shaheen before him, set an agenda of moderate leadership that sought to balance competing policy interests for the good of the whole. He did his good works in a quiet and dignified manner. This past election served notice that New Hampshire voters are tired of snarky campaigns and the mean-spiritedness that seemed to engulf our political process. Both New Hampshire Democrats and Republicans should now seek to work together for the common good.
After reading former governor John H. Sununu’s most recent comments, I appreciate that he and Arnie Arnesen deserve each other. Their shrillness and arrogance and what it represented is why Maggie Hassan is governor and Barack Obama is president. Better days are ahead.
