Seven people arrested in meth lab bust in Tilton

Seven people were arrested last night in connection with a methamphetamine lab in a Tilton residence. They were in the process of cooking meth when law enforcement officers entered the home at 263 Laconia Road with a warrant around 8 p.m.

The Tilton Police Department, Drug Enforcement Agency and DEA Clean Lab Team had been conducting an investigation into the production and sale of meth from that property. Several other local fire and police departments assisted in executing the warrant.

When the police entered the home, meth was actively being produced and a 4-year-old boy was in the same room, according to a release. The Clean Lab worked quickly to remove the lab and secure the room.

Seven adults were arrested, three of whom live at the home. The child was taken into protective custody and sent to Lakes Region General Hospital for a medical screening.

“These meth labs are very dangerous for a community as they are volatile, can be explosive and create a hazardous environment. Sadly we frequently find children exposed to these labs, which can cause very serious health problems,” said Tilton Police Chief Robert Cormier, in a release.

Six of the seven people arrested were arraigned in Franklin District Court this morning and are all being held in the Belknap County jail.
