Monarchs fall behind early, take charge after that for 3-1 win
Monarchs take control
The Manchester Monarchs scored two third-period goals to pick up a road win over the Worcester Sharks, 3-1, last night. The Sharks outshot Manchester, 29-20, but couldn’t translate its attempts on net into scores. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones stood tall in net, making 28 saves.
Worcester center Jon Matsumoto scored the Sharks’ lone goal just 1:30 into the game to give the home team a 1-0 lead it wouldn’t relinquish until midway through the second period, when Manchester center Linden Vey scored via assists from Brandon Kozun and Tanner Pearson to make it a 1-1 game.
Jordan Weal gave the Monarchs the lead 7:27 into the third period, and left winger Tyler Toffoli wrapped things up for Manchester at the 18:48 mark of the third.
