Two Franklin firefighters rescued from overturned truck in Belmont
Two Franklin firefighters were successfully rescued from their utility pickup truck after it rolled over Wednesday night on Route 140 in Belmont. Both sustained minor injuries.
They were travelling back from a certification program in New Durham when their vehicle crashed and rolled over, trapping both inside the truck for more than 30 minutes, Franklin fire Chief Kevin LaChapelle said in a statement. Both were wearing seat belts. The passenger was partially ejected through the window and the driver was suspended by his seat belt.
Members of the Belmont Fire Department extricated the two from the truck, and they were transported to Lakes Region General Hospital from where they were later released with minor injuries.
“Our department was blessed with a positive outcome last night,” LaChapelle said. “As I stood on scene in observance, I was extremely impressed with the top-notch performance of the Belmont Fire Department.”
