Penacook condo fire leaves family of five homeless Sunday morning

A family of five is homeless after a fire tore through their Penacook condominium early yesterday morning.

No one was injured by the blaze, which was contained to 24 Modena Drive, an end unit at the Island Shores Estates Condominum Complex.

The fire was under control about half an hour after being reported at 12:06 a.m., according to Concord fire Chief Dan Andrus.

The original report claimed the fire started in a mattress on the third floor, but the cause remains under investigation, Andrus said in an email.

The family that lived in the condo was relocated to stay with relatives, he said.

No further information was available last night.
