Letter: Who’s to blame?
Regarding the “Stand Your Ground” debate:
Recently I received this email from Chaplain Ronald Reid of the USS Albemarle/Corpus Christi Bay Association: “Dear Shipmates and Friends, I am very sorry to report to you the death of our former president, Stewart Walton, who was murdered outside his home in Hapefield, Ga., as a result of an attempted home invasion.”
This from a local news report: “He (Walton) told his wife to run and when he was running, they shot him.
“It’s really unfortunate,” said neighbor Mary Rainwater, “but times are hard and people are doing desperate things.”
Right. The guns didn’t kill him, nor did the thugs. “Hard times” did.
