Jarheads, leathernecks, doughboys and lookie-loos alike – atten-HUT! The latest installment of the Wings of Knowledge series at NHTI is “Collecting Military Ephemera” with presenter John Morrison.
Morrison, a consumate collector of World War II memorabilia, comes with selections from his bunker-loads of military gear. Set your sight on ordnance, flags, uniforms and medals used by combatants of all sides – everything but a Sherman tank!
“For many people,” said Wings of Knowledge coordinator Steve Ambra, “World War II feels as far away as the Civil War. This is a good chance to see what things looked like.”
Morrison will also lead a discussion on the ins, outs and what-have-yous of collecting military memorabilia, offering tips for the seasoned veteran as well as the prospective collector. The free event is tonight in the NHTI Library Living Room, 31 College Drive.

RSVP now for a cool event tomorrow, when Dan Szczeny and Janelle Mylott speak at Girls Inc.
Avid Insider readers will remember Szczeny and Mylott as the titular duo from the upcoming book The Adventures of Buffalo and Tough Cookie, chronicling the unlikely pair’s quest to climb all 52 of New Hampshire’s 4,000 mountains.
For a fourth-grader, Mylott is tougher than a month-old Samoa!
This free event takes place March 6 at 5:30 at the Green Street Community Center and includes a light dinner (probably some GORP).
Event organizers urge you to RSVP at buffaloandtoughcookie.eventbrite.com
