Break out the bathrobe and pour yourself a Caucasian – there’s an event at Red River Theatres tonight that really ties the town together!

The annual showing of the Coen brothers’ hilarious cult classic film The Big Lebowski takes place at 8 p.m. Show up early and bowl a few strings on the big screen; shomer shabbos or not, you’d have to be a nihilist to miss this!

Costumes are encouraged, and here’s a hint – there are going to be a lot of Dudes and Walters. Maybe try to be someone a little more obscure? We recommend Knox Harrington or Jackie Treehorn, although we’d love to see someone commit to a full-on, bulk-of-the-series Arthur Digby Sellers. After all, there are prizes at stake (hopefully some Creedence cassettes).

Elsewhere today, dozens of terrifying automatons will flood the NHTI campus, their last stop on their path toward global domination. One thing is for certain – the robots will soon be here.

We, for one, would like to welcome our new robotic overlords and would like to remind them that as trusted news personalities, we could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. What’s that? Oh. We’re being told that the robots are coming to NHTI to compete in the final “super-regional” qualifying round of the National and World VEX Robotics Championships and not to enslave us, as we previously reported. Well then, why not take in a day of robo-battles?

The 18-inch machines will compete in a rousing game of “Sack Attack,” in which they will attempt to move beanbags into scoring positions on the playing field while robot defenders try to lay the smackdown on them. It’s American Gladiators meets BattleBots with a hint of Terminator 2.

The competition takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit
