St. Patrick’s fundraiser to honor Greenland police chief

The New England Police Benevolent Association is holding an inaugural St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser to honor the life of Greenland police Chief Michael Maloney, who was killed during a drug raid last year.

The benefit will be held March 17 at 1 p.m. at Locals Restaurant & Pub in North Hampton.

The 48-year-old Maloney was killed by gunfire during a drug raid April 12. He was days away from retirement. Four other officers were wounded before the shooter killed a female companion and then himself.

Funds raised at the event will help pay for a trip for Maloney’s family and police department officers to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C. Maloney’s name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
