Two men arrested and charged with raping 20-year-old woman
Two men were arrested late Friday evening and charged in the rape of a 20-year-old woman in Weare last week.
Tyler Janvrin of Weare and James Cheney of Dover were arrested separately and have each been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, according to the police.
Officials would not disclose details of the incident as it was still under investigation, but said it was a single event with multiple assaults and that the victim has been released from the hospital.
Janvrin, 20, was taken into custody at his residence at 71 Daniels Road. He is on parole for another crime, which the police would not disclose. He has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated sexual assault – the most serious classification of sexual assault under New Hampshire criminal law, carrying a prison sentence of 20 years or more.
Cheney, 21, was arrested in Dover and faces four felony counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Both men face an additional two counts of simple assault and one count each of false imprisonment, criminal restraint and witness tampering. They are being held at the Hillsborough County Jail, and will be arraigned tomorrow.
Cheney is being held on a $25,000 cash bail; Janvrin has declined bail.
