The Insiders: Forget the man-cave madness – it’s ladies’ night in Concord

Late March means a lot of things to a lot of people. The lousy Smarch weather is all but over with, and the same goes for those pesky Ides. Spring has officially started, that famous March lion sleeps tonight and we are all on the lookout for that giant lamb to officially usher April in, bleating and braying all the way. One thing is for certain – March Madness starts tonight! Many of Concord’s hoops-obsessed will be retreating to their man caves tonight to bust brackets with their bros. But even if you don’t know Victor Oladipo from Jorge Bergoglio, there’s still plenty to do tonight.
Lilise Designer Resale will host a fashion show fundraiser this evening to benefit the Payson Cancer Center. “It’s going to be an action-packed evening,” owner Ellen Lessard told us. Arrive between 4 and 5:30 p.m. to give yourself time to down a glass of wine and nibble on some apps while you get a free manicure and mini-makeover. Then, sit back as a team of models struts their Storrs Street stuff in Lilise’s finest spring offerings. Photographer Kiera Slye will be on hand to give attendees a posing workshop to ensure you’ll never take an awkward family photo again. The event takes place at Lilise Designer Resale, 113 Storrs St. RSVP at lilisefashionshow.eventbrite.com.
Senior promenade is just around the corner, and in between Scotchgarding the upholstery in the station wagon and Redboxing Carrie, parents face a lot of prom-based expenses. New To You’s third annual “Prom on a Budget” night may just be able to help you out of the red. The event (5 to 8 p.m. at New To You’s 15 Pleasant St. location) will feature discounted dresses, as well as the chance to win prom-themed door prizes like limo rentals, shopping sprees and salon gift certificates. (Note: Asking your mom to the prom will not earn you any points in the lunchroom, no matter how charmingly Canadian you are, Calvin Klein.) For more information, call 715-5908.
Cap off your ladies’ night with a unique experience – BYOB clay sculpting at You’re Fired. Ladies sculpt half-price tonight at the 133 Loudon Road studio, and the 21 and over crowd is encouraged (or at least permitted) to bring in an adult beverage. Take it easy, though – before you know it, you’ve been working on your Channing Tatum statue’s “anatomical correctness” for 20 minutes and everyone is staring at you! For more info on You’re Fired, call 226-3473 or visit yourefirednh.com.
