Berkley and her sister Brynna, 9, and their dad Jim traveled around to a few farms and decided that Grade B syrup, a very dark syrup with rich maple flavor, like the one served at Kearsarge Gore, was their favorite to sample.

(ANDREA MORALES / Monitor staff)

Visitors trickled in and out of the Kearsarge Gore Farm sugar shack in Warner on Sunday, coming to watch syrup drip slowly out of the wood burning evaporator and even get a sample. The warm Sunday sun was another welcome visitor to farm owner Bob Bower and his son Sam, whose nearly 1,000 trees were too frozen to release sap until recently. But the warmth arrived just in time for the state’s Maple Weekend, which had maple producers such as the Kearsarge Gore Farm opening their doors to the public.
