Former Bedford officer waives evidence hearing

A Bedford police officer who was fired after his unmarked police cruiser was involved in a Bedford hit-and-run that injured two teens has waived his right to an evidentiary hearing.

The lawyer for former Manchester officer Stephen Coco said Coco waived the probable cause hearing scheduled to take place in district court in Merrimack yesterday.

Coco’s case will now be presented to a grand jury for possible indictment. He is free on bail and facing felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident.

The teens – 18-year-old Dean Drukker and 17-year-old Noah Hickman – were struck from behind March 22 as they walked toward Hickman’s home on a quiet residential street.
