The Pulitzer Prize was announced Monday.
It was easy to overlook after the tragic blasts at the Boston Marathon, but the Granite State was well represented. Pittsfield poet Sharon Olds won the Pulitzer for poetry for Stag’s Leap – a collection of poems about her ending marriage.
Here’s a full interview with former Monitor editor Mike Pride from earlier in the week.
Late last year, NPR had praise for Olds and said in a review that the book “is both personal and impersonal — and moves beyond Olds to offer an alphabet of grieving, to gather a shape of losing, as well as perhaps offering us some clues about beginning anew.”
In more Pulitzer news, former Monitor photo intern Javier Manzano won this year’s Pulitzer for feature photography. He was an intern in 2005.
You can find Manzano’s personal website here.
