The Insiders: Moose, trout, Legos

"The Battling Bull Moose of Fowlertown"

"The Battling Bull Moose of Fowlertown"

Have you ever seen two bull moose locked in an eternal struggle, their antlers forever intertwined like the souls of lifetime lovers, frozen in time in the midst of a beautiful agony that’s both poetic and brutal? Well, have you ever seen a trout? Today is your chance to see both of those things – and tons more cool animals – at New Hampshire Fish and Game’s “Discover Wild New Hampshire Day!” The annual event – which we’ve checked out more than once – is always good family fun. Visit the aforementioned “Battling Bull Moose of Fowlertown” (thanks, taxidermy!), learn how to do a perfect turkey call (for reference, it should sound something like an argument between a seal and a seagull, perhaps over custody of their son Steven Sealgull), and loose a few arrows, Katniss-style, at the archery range. This free event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive. For more information, visit wildnh.com.
