We don’t often encourage our faithful followers to wander outside the borders of Concord, but when something is free, we’re willing to make an exception. To that end, we encourage you to venture down to Manchester’s Currier Museum today. Admission is free for curious folks of all ages during this school vacation week. Check out the main exhibit, “Lethal Beauty,” for a look at relics from the era of the Samurai. These artifacts, which date back as far as the 13th century, are as intriguing for their artistry as their deadly history. Swords, shields, armor and more make up this awesome exhibit. It’s just like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (colloquially subtitled Turtles in Time), except, you know, good!

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the museum is also hosting the family event “Drawing in the Gallery.” Take a gander at some of the art hanging in the Currier’s various galleries and get inspired to draw your own.The Currier Museum (150 Ash St., Manchester) is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit currier.org.

Back here in Concord, there’s a climate change picnic on the State House lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fight against global warming starts with your chicken salad sandwich! New Hampshire environmental organizations will be on hand to discuss the climate change issues that affect our state. The event is BYOBLOTFOBG (Bring Your Own Bag Lunch Or Tupperware Full Of Baba Ganoush). For more information, call 465-7933.
