Police investigate attempted theft at Concord Hannaford

The Concord police are asking for help finding a man who attempted to steal items from Hannaford and assaulted a security officer.

An employee saw a young man acting suspiciously inside the store and taking items from the shelves, the police said. When the man left the supermarket on Fort Eddy Road without paying, he was confronted by store security. The police said the man then dropped the items, pushed the security officer and fled through the parking lot. The incident occurred April 7 at about 2:30 p.m.

The man is described as a 20-year-old white male with brown hair, a “chin-strap” style beard and a facial piercing, the police said. He was wearing a New York Yankees No. 2 Derek Jeter jersey with a white turtleneck underneath, a blue bandanna around his head and sunglasses.

Photos of the man taken from a surveillance video are available at concordregionalcrimeline.com.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100 or text TIP234 and their message to CRIMES (274637).
