For the record, I already thought Matt Bonner was the best.

He’s a red-headed basketball player, who shoots the three better than almost anyone else in the league every year. (Almost 42% for his career!)

He’s a class act, and nobody ever seems to have anything bad to say about him. The folks in Toronto (where he began his NBA career) still like Bonner.

His team, the San Antonio Spurs, are about to play for another championship after beating the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference finals (Bonner's interviews are at the bottom of the page), and at least one analyst suggests that Bonner could be a key factor in the team’s success.

But most importantly . . . the guy loves sandwiches. Like really loves them. He has his own feature column on NBA.com called, “The Sandwich Hunter.” And If that wasn’t the awesome already, the tagline for the series is “The Quest for the Hoagie Grail.” I’m already waiting for the movie adaptation.

The column is funny and his knowledge of the craft goes way back when he was working at F&P Convenience and Deli in Concord in 1996.

If you’re hit the road soon, check out the map and see if you agree with Bonner’s sandwich assesments.

I may never eat another “grindah” without first consulting Mr. Bonner.

(There’s also this great moment from the Spurs-Grizzlies series.)
