This was Cohen's first time participating in the 24-hour men's solo category which means he had to complete as many laps as possible within the 24-hour period. He completed 15 with the help of his mother who was his support, providing water, sustenance and enthusiasm along the way. "She made it happen," he said.

(ANDREA MORALES / Monitor staff)

The second day of the Mountain Bike Festival that took place last weekend at Pats Peak had participants going downhill fast. They also went through the woods, deep through mud and up rocky slopes. Sunday afternoon brought the end of the gruelling 24-hour race and several categories of cross country riders on the course, which is a technical mix of single track, dirt, logging roads, switchbacks and downhill. The Downhill Thrill also took place on Sunday with riders of all ages hurtling themselves down a course from the summit of the mountain to the bottom for the fastest time.
