Single car crash in Barnstead injures Dover man
The Barnstead police are investigating what caused a 31-year-old Dover man to drive his car into a tree Friday night.
Fire rescue personnel used the jaws of life to extract Matthew Cahill from his car after it collided with a tree on Beauty Hill Road at about 9:25 p.m. Cahill was transported to Concord Hospital, where he remained as of last night, according to Joseph McDowell of the Barnstead police Department.
“They pulled the doors off to get in,” McDowell said. “He was in there pretty good. It was reported to us that he suffered serious bodily injury.”
WMUR reported that the police said speed was a factor in the crash, but McDowell would not confirm that last night, nor would he say whether alcohol played a part.
“It’s still an open investigation,” McDowell said. “Those are possibilities, but we don’t know yet.”
