Breaking: 19-year-old charged with murder in Laconia
A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder after the police say he strangled another man inside a Laconia home for people with mental health issues. Kasey Riley was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Zachary March and will be arraigned tomorrow morning, according to the attorney general’s office.
The home at 24 McGrath St. is owned by Genesis Behavioral Health and is an independent living community for individuals who have experienced homelessness, according to a company spokeswoman.
The police were called to the home at about 1:42 a.m. and found March unresponsive, officials said. They said Riley was at the home when officers arrived.
The spokeswoman said the home has a capacity for 10 people, and eight were living there at the time of the incident. Residents there receive supervision and support but not 24-hour-a-day monitoring, she said.
